NEW TREND: Famous on Tumblr

The last year Tumblr has become an immensive and influental microblogging platform. The website has hit the milestone of 10 billion posts just days ago and is still growing everyday. With this growth, there has been created a new phenomenon: 'Tumblr Famous'. Here we're talking about bloggers who have become extremely popular just by posting photos of themselves that get thousands of 'notes', which means the photo gets reblogged or liked by other users. A new Warholian kind of fame that celebrates the identity of the bloggers, who are mostly alternative teenagers. What is this for new culture and who are these people?

A great example of someone who has gained this popular status is the 16 year old Jamie Ryan Dee aka JamJars from a small town in North-East England. Altough Tumblr doesn't give away exact numbers of followers, he recently said he has over 100,000 followers and is known as the male top player. His photos and gifs are all over Tumblr and the internet and he is loved by many people who adore his looks, style, cuteness and personality. He says he has ''no idea'' how he got so popular, but thinks he's just lucky that his blog got noticed.

Another person who has gained much popularity on Tumblr is the 18 year old Kim Jay aka KimDash from Atlanta, Georgia. When it comes to showing off your looks, she tops everyone. Her blog includes hundreds of pictures of herself of her in a car, in her room, etcetera. A beautiful girl who seems to enjoy the attention she get's for just being who she is. And, smart as she is, she is taking an adventage out of her newfound fame. Her Twitter biography says: ''All business inquiries please be sent to realkimjay@gmail.com''. The real deal.

    It would be much cooler if they where famous for a talent rather than just for how they look, cause that's basicly nothing. Or can looking cool, making GIFs and dying your hair be seen as a talent..?

    I love Tumblr, and I absolutely love Jamiee <3 and it's not about having talent, There just really cool people and have lots of followers, which makes them tumblr famous. Everyone on tumblr would like to be tumblr famous so you will post your blog url to everyone and get "promos" and other people are just lucky enough to be hot and also there's usually a theme to your blog so they just must have a good theme and meaning to it which people find inspiring or just entertaining.

    i absolutely adore Jamie in every single way, but i've had tumblr for a bit under a year (holdallthewords.tumblr.com) and i've never heard of kim jay. Maybe her blogs just to mainstream for my dashboard.

    Becoming Tumblr famous takes absolutely no skill. You only have to be attractive. That's it. And JamJars did announce how many Tumblr followers he had once, and it was a few months ago at 100,000 followers.

    Awwwwwwwwwwww kimmy!! for everyone who doesn't know who she is, it's probably because jamjars and kimdash's blogs are extremely different and you guys all probably follow him and only people like his blogs. Nonetheless they both have notoriety amongst different audiences. No hate on their game on my behalf =] <3
